Specific duties include:
- Implement data analysis algorithms as requested by faculty and staff.
- Advise biological researchers on best methods available to analyze and interpret their data and assist in implementation.
- Design, develop, implement, and document software required for biological databases, including tools for loading, searching, visualizing, and analyzing data.
Essential Qualifications include:
- Ph.D. in math, computer science, statistics, or related field
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Very strong math/statistical background
- Familiarity with algorithms typically used in biological data analysis
- Ability to quickly and efficiently implement algorithms and statistical methods
- Experience with R, C++, C, Perl, MatLab
- Experience with utilizing large compute clusters is extremely valuable.
- Able to work productively in a team environment, communicate effectively with people of varying technical backgrounds, and be able to adjust to the rapidly changing needs of researchers
- Able to work independently and manage multiple collaborations/research projects at once.
Research experience with biological data analysis and/or modeling
and experience with CGI, web development and DBI is preferred. Rank
and salary are dependent upon qualifications.

Post-doctoral researcher
Lewis-Sigler Institute
Princeton University
Post-doctoral research positions are available at Princeton University studying the metabolic consequences of viral infection. Successful candidates will join an NIH-funded interdisciplinary team that applies state-of-the-art mass spectrometry technology to uncover novel metabolic approaches to treating influenza and herpes virus infections. Post-doctoral researchers will work jointly with Joshua Rabinowitz (metabolomics) and Thomas Shenk (virology). Ideal backgrounds for successful candidates include virology, cell biology, metabolism, systems biology, and/or mass spectrometry. Exceptional opportunities are available for highly motivated candidates with strong publication records, regardless of their specific area of expertise. The post-doctoral researcher would be expected to contribute to collaborative research efforts, as well as lead their own independent research project. Applicants should recently have received their Ph.D.
Applications should be submitted online at http://jobs.princeton.edu (Req. #0800155). Applications should include a curriculum vitae that includes a list of publications and a brief statement (3 pages) of research interests and goals. On the application form, please give three references that you have asked to send letters of recommendation. Reference letters should be sent to the address below. All other materials must be submitted through the website.

Postdoctoral position - Llinás lab
Lewis-Sigler Institute
Princeton University
The Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics seeks applicants for the
laboratory of Dr. Manuel Llinás. Dr. Llinás' lab is applying a variety of
approaches to investigate 1) the molecular mechanism of transcriptional
regulation in Plasmodium falciparum and 2) large-scale parasite-derived
metabolic processes and interactions. We are using DNA microarrays to analyze
changes in transcription genome-wide due to environmental perturbations such as
drug challenge. The lab also applies a variety of biochemical approaches to
identify the factors involved in these regulatory processes and to describe
their genome-wide interactions. In addition, in our metabolomics work we are
utilizing HPLC-MS/MS to specifically quantify metabolite levels throughout
parasite development.
The Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics,
housed in the Carl Icahn Laboratory at Princeton University, was established to
innovate in research and teaching at the interface of modern biology and the
more quantitative sciences. It is very well set up for bioinformatics and
genomic approaches to Plasmodium biology and has excellent support facilities.
The Institute is also the hub of the Center for Quantitative Biology, funded by
the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, one of the National
Institutes of Health.
Applicants should recently have received their Ph.D.
and/or M.D. and have strong interest in malaria parasitology. Experience in
tissue culture and molecular biology techniques is preferred. Facility with
computers and programming is desirable. Rank and salary dependent upon
qualifications.

Princeton University
The Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics seeks applicants for research staff positions to join any of several interdisciplinary research groups. Subjects include the architecture and dynamics of transcriptional regulatory networks, using technologies such as DNA microarrays to make genome-wide observations of cellular states in bacteria, yeast and animal cells. Computational and mathematical approaches are then employed to analyze such data in order to model the genetic circuitry of these organisms. Applicants with a Ph.D. or equivalent should have training and a significant track record in one of the following areas:
- genomics
- bacterial/yeast/animal cell molecular biology and genetics.
- experimental chemistry or theoretical physics.
- computational biology/biophysics.
- computer science (theory, machine learning, statistics).
- population genetics, molecular evolution.
Facility with computers and programming is desirable. Rank and salary dependent upon qualifications.
